The commercial and cultural centre of the Manning Valley is the River City of Taree situated on the banks of the beautiful Manning River. In the surrounding area many country towns and seaside villages offer the visitor a wide choice for short drives or day trips.

Surrounding areas include Wallabi Point, Manning Point, Tinonee, Wingham, Hallidays Point, Diamond Beach, Harrington, Crowdy Head, Moorland, Johns River and picturesque Hannam Vale.

The seaside haven of Old Bar beach is just five minutes drive away and has a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

Old Bar shopping village includes Cafés/Restaurants, Takeaways, Bakery, Post Office, Liquor Store, Newsagent, Bilo Supermarket, Butchers, Hairdressers, Ladies fashion, Chemist & Medical Centre.

A short stroll away is Old Bar surf beach (which is a patrolled beach) as well as a swimming pool, park, children's playground, gas BBQs, undercover seating and a kiosk offering takeaway and casual eat in meals. There's also tennis & squash courts for hire.

Club Old Bar - NSW Award winning Bowling Club is five minutes walk from the shopping village and includes TAB and ATM facilities plus Bistro and a Coffee shop for a light snack. The Club also caters for conferences and weddings. Enjoy great meal deals midweek at the Bistro as well as a $6 roast dinner on Sundays.

Old Bar Markets are on the 4th Sunday of month. Blackhead Bazaar on the 1st Sunday of the month from September to April.
 

Nearby Attractions

Saltwater National Park (smallest in NSW) at Wallabi Point is just 7 minutes drive away from your accommodation with beach and lagoon access and great surfing off the point and the perfect shady BBQ picnic area. Walking tracks lead through the park and into adjoining Khappinghat Nature Reserve.

The nearby fishing village of Manning Point (20 min drive) where the River meets the ocean offers 4WD beach access and permits are available from the general store. There's also boat and Kayak hire or you can fish from the beach or jetty. In season fresh Oysters can be purchased from the Oyster farmers here.

The Blue Water Cafe opposite the river at Manning Point is open 5 days a week and the recently opened Waterbird Restaurant enjoys absolute water frontage.
